SON VIVES, A MEDITERRANEAN CONSTRUCTION
WHOSE WATERFALL TRULY TURNS HEADS
Cala Llombards is a slice of paradise in white, green, and blue, a natural retreat adored by those in search of peace and beauty. There is no room for stridency; and that is precisely where this very special house is located, capable of blending in with the serene and beautiful spirit of the place.
This is Son Vives, a 430 square metre villa built by Consfutur, situated on a beautiful 1.7-hectare estate. Upon entering, the view is lulled by the soothing waterfall that slowly cascades over the turquoise pool, the centrepiece of the property. The spaces we have created are carefully detailed compositions, but the focal point of the property is the waterfall that accompanies the swimming pool surrounded by traditional Mallorcan nature.
Beyond the garden, the soft ivory-toned sandstone of the façade is inviting to the touch. However, despite its warm and simple appearance, its installation was a real challenge. “What took the most work was the cladding of the Porreras sandstone, as it had to be laid out as well as possible so that the maximum number of whole pieces with their respective anchors were used, avoiding leaving unsightly cuts”, recalls the team in charge of this new Consfutur project, an expert in Mallorcan materials and handicraft techniques.
This sandstone, which is very abundant in the area, is symbolic of Mallorca itself, as it forms an essential part of its traditional architecture. What’s more, due to its low ecological impact, it is also a distinctive feature of modern sustainable construction.
We used materials in the traditional beige and cream tones of Mallorcan architecture, contrasting with the darker colours of the exterior carpentry – in weathering steel and brown – and those of the taps, sockets, and switches, in black. This symphony of neutral, sober, elegant yet cosy tones continue in the off-white beams. The colour is also replicated in the shower floor, which stimulates the touch as it is lined with river stones. This novel decision merges us, once again, with the privileged surroundings of Cala Llombards.
Son Vives is a quiet villa, inviting relaxation. Our construction company, Consfutur, with more than half a century of experience in the planning and construction of exclusive homes on the island, created it surrounded by nature, connecting it with the beautiful environment that surrounds it. The estate is a place to enjoy the view on a grand scale, but also to fully appreciate and experience the smaller moments within it.
