PERSONAS FUTUR | MAATI ATILI, TRANSPORT MANAGER
April 17, 2026PERSONAS FUTUR | MAAIKE VERDONK, HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER
In the construction industry, safety is one of the least visible responsibilities, yet one of the most important. It is embedded in every working day, underpins every activity and forms part of decisions that, although often unnoticed, have a direct impact on people’s wellbeing.
Working at height, operating machinery, handling materials and coordinating multiple trades on site are all part of the everyday reality of the construction industry. In such dynamic environments, coordination, planning and the commitment of everyone involved are paramount to maintaining high safety standards.
Behind all this is Maaike Verdonk, Health and Safety Manager at Consfutur.
She has been part of the team for more than six years, playing a key role in protecting people and fostering a proactive health and safety culture throughout the company. Through regular visits, inspections and training activities, she monitors the implementation of safety measures and works closely with external health and safety providers to ensure teams enjoy the appropriate working conditions.
In the interview, she shares insights into her day-to-day work between the office and the construction site, explains the safety inspections she regularly carries out, and reflects on some of the most complex moments in her profession, especially those related to workplace accidents and situations requiring immediate action.
The conversation explores a side of the industry that rarely occupies the spotlight, despite being part of the everyday work of hundreds of professionals. A role that extends far beyond procedures, with the ultimate objective of protecting people.
This interview forms part of our ongoing effort to showcase the professionals behind Consfutur, whose dedication contributes each day to the wellbeing and safety of the wider team.
